We get a lot of confusion about which plug or terminal is needed based on female vs male. People read a forum post and then purchase the wrong side for their project. We thought we'd do a short post and define what it means when someone says a male plug or female terminal. As for the seals, they are typically the same for both the plug and receptacle, we'll call them unisex :)

Plugs:

Male - a male connector refers to the plug side.
